To shine a light on people who advance the cause of human liberty and dignity.

How
Nominations may be made by an individual, a group, organization, or business. The nomination should take the form of an essay, no longer than 250 words explaining why the nominee should be considered for the Spirit of Freedom Award.
The letter of nomination should be submitted to The Sun no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2008.

American Dream - Someone who has immigrated to America, faced the challenges and obstacles of beginning a new life in a new country, and has succeeded professionally.

Sharing & Caring - Someone who makes a difference because of what they do for others through the spirit of community and volunteerism.

Leading By Example - A civic, business or government leader who sets an example for others to follow.

Shaping Our Youth - Someone in the educational community who significantly contributes to shaping the character of our youth.

Service In Uniform - Someone in the military of public safety occupations who puts his/her life on the line.

Future Of America - Successful youth or young adult who is already putting a mark on the community.

The Power To Heal - Someone in the medical profession or health-related field who selflessly works for healthier community.
